Research description:
Primarily interested in electric distribution
systems, analysis and planning, as well as
distribution system loss calculation, control and
reduction. Professor Poveda has developed a new
method to calculate power distribution losses,
based on digital profiles obtained from modern
instruments, in order to do away with loss factor
estimates. His research activities are aimed at
designing distribution systems in Latin American
utilities and optimizing their operation. He has
also developed comprehensive demand- side
management plans for Latin American and Caribbean
countries and coordinated technical assistance for
the implementation of DSM programs.
