Research description:
Recent research has focused on applying new algorithms to solving nonlinear optimization problems such as the optimal power flow problem. Additional contract work has been performed for industrial clients in the areas of system protection, load flow and fault analysis. Serve as Director of UMaine Industrial Assessment Center which has received continual Dept. of Energy funding for the last eight years in the area of demand side management.
Laboratory facilities:
New Power Systems Laboratory is equipped with the latest Rockwell AC Drives, DC Drives, Motor Control Centers, Power Monitoring equipment, AC/DC Machines, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet and Programmable Logic Controllers. The laboratory has the capability to model most industrial power systems along with many automation applications.
