Key Words:
Voltage Stability and security, Available transfer capability
Research description:
- Developing
simulation tools to analyze power system voltage security.
- Application
of nonlinear dynamics and bifurcation theory is explored to understand the
voltage collapse.
- Developed
continuation power flow (CPF) to accurately predict the voltage
instability.
- Formulating
a sensitivity based preventive and corrective control strategy to mitigate
the voltage collapse.
- Investigating
available transfer capability as limited by voltage collapse. Full
differential and algebraic framework is utilized for the analysis. In this
formulation there is no PV and slack bus assumptions. It provides true
stability information. It automatically traces PV diagrams. There is a
provision for unsolvable cases. The program systematically identifies the
parameters that are critical for the voltage stability.
