Research description:

(1) Energy Managemnet System (EMS) application software and Dispatcher Training Simulator(DTS).A research group I am leading is doing R & D in EMS /DTS theory and techniques. I proposed a Recursive Measurement Error Estimation Identification (RMEEI) method to identify bad data in state estimation. My group has developed an integrated EMS/DTS, called TH2100, and applied this system into more than 40 control centers for utilities in China.

(2) Intelligent and Informative power system. My group is reseaching information technology applied to power system operation and control. We have carried out some research work on artificial intelligent technology applied to power system dispaching and control.

(3) Real time electric power market. We research a real time transaction plan for power company. We developed a real time transaction schedule software which is based on TH 2100 EMS/DTS and applied this software to electric power company of Henan province.

(4) Reactive power closed loop control. We are researching reactive optimization algorithms applied to real time closed loop control. We have done some field tests to check the algorithm we proposed.

(5) Parallel calculation for transient stability simulation. We are building a digital simulation lab. in Tsinghua University for teaching and researching.

(6) Power systen calculation including steady state and transient stability calculations. We have done some researches on sparse matrix and sparse vector techniques, load flow, fault analysis, dynamic simulation, and optimization.

(7) Our group has published 250 technical papers and one book.

Laboratory facilities:

I am teaching and doing research works in department of electrical engineering at Tsinghua University. We have a State Key Lab of Power System which is only one lab in China. I am vice director of this lab. This lab has a dynamic simulation section which is equipped with physical machines and control systems. There is also a digital simulation section in our lab where we have computer network to simulate what happens in a control center of power system. This lab is used by 120 undergraduate students each year and 100 graduate students each year. We are carrying out a restruction plan to develop a new mixed simulation system combining physical simulation with digital simulation.
