Research description:

My research mainly involves application of AI and Computational Intelligence techniques to power system operation problems. The application areas include alarm analysis, online power transmission fault diagnosis, dynamic line rating, transformer diagnosis and restoration assistance, co-ordinated voltage control, security assesment and intelligent substation servers.

My use of computational intelligence techniques include multi-agent systems, adaptive agent systems, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms, knowledge discovery algorithms, neural networks, model based systems and rule-based systems.

Laboratory facilities:

Our lab is equipped with computer systems and includes a 8 computer linux-based Beowoulf cluster for parallel applications.

The Lab is sponsored by Transpower NZ Ltd., New Zealand's power transmission company.
