Distribution System Analysis, Computer Modeling

Research description:

The major emphasis of my research has been and is in the area of accurate modeling of distribution system components. The models developed have been incorporated into the Radial Distribuiton Analysis Package (RDAP) that peforms power-flow and short-circuit analysis of radial distribution feeders. During the past year new models for all conventional three-phase transformer connections have been developed. These models lend themselves to the "forward - backward" interative techniques used by most radial power-flow programs. In addition to my research in distribution systems, I have supervised graduate research projects dealing with the correlation of lightning strikes to transmission line outages.
